Menace is a turn-based tactical strategy game. We have a spaceship lost in space in the vastness of Orkana and a near-army of soldiers. The surviving soldiers’ task is to recover the ship and battle the aliens. game was developed by Overhype Studios. The game’s release date is February 5, 2026.
We’ll tell you about the best commanders to take early in the game. The article includes information on possible skill upgrades. With these skills, commanders will be more effective on the battlefield.
Commanders in Menace.
The game features commanders who have a significant impact on the battlefield. Some commanders are highly valuable, while others are less so, but everything can depend on the tactics used in the game. It’s important to properly upgrade the stats and parameters that will affect both soldiers and vehicles. Establishing skills and leveling up will allow you to inflict a decisive defeat on the enemy and speed up the game. At the start of the game, there are only 8 commanders, which you can select in the Squads section. You can recruit 11 commanders and 5 technicians throughout the game.
All commanders have their own unique abilities and characteristics. Commanders have three ranks, from entry-level to elite. The cost of supplying soldiers depends on the rank. The higher the rank, the more expensive the supply. To ensure the cost of supplying soldiers is effective on the battlefield, you need to choose the most suitable commanders.
For example, two of the best commanders, in our opinion, are Darby and Greifinger. It’s important to level these comrades up so they can inflict the most damage. At the same time, it’s important to equip them with the best weapons and equipment. This will significantly increase your chances of victory on the battlefield. Other commanders are best chosen from the two-star squad to ensure the best team complement.
Regarding the recruitment of new commanders in Menace.
New commanders can be recruited on the Black Market. To hire a commander, you’ll need Authority and a Dossier. Hiring high-quality commanders will require higher Authority. Acquiring a more valuable commander may decrease overall discipline in the ranks. If for some reason you no longer need a commander, you can dismiss them. In this case, all the Authority spent will be returned.
Important points about commanders in Menace.
You can bring several commanders into battle with varying numbers of squads per group. It’s important not to take all the commanders, but to create full squads of 4-5 commanders. This will create more resilient squads capable of withstanding attacks and repelling the enemy. Taking too many commanders will result in small and very vulnerable squads. Therefore, it’s important to plan your squad composition at the start of the battle. Commanders will allow you to fully realize the potential of your soldiers if they are properly configured.
Commanders available at the start of the game in Menace.
At the very beginning of the game, you need to decide on your initial team composition. It’s important to set priorities and establish your desired tactics right away. In the initial stages, you’ll need to rely on the specified stats. However, commander skills aren’t particularly important. We suggest reviewing a list of commanders who will suit almost any game tactic and will simplify the initial missions.
Commander Charles Lim.
Charles Lim is a fairly strong commander if used correctly on the battlefield and with due consideration for his abilities. He has good stats and decent skills for his average cost. He will successfully combat lightly armored enemies if he has the “Scout,” “Concentrated Fire,” “Zig-Zag,” “Hit-and-Run,” and “Berserker” skills. With these skills, you can be confident in reconnaissance and combat against ordinary opponents.
Since Commander Charles Lim is a scout, he should be equipped with appropriate weapons and armor. It’s advisable not to equip him with medium armor or a grenade launcher. This will make him more mobile and capable of dealing decent damage at long range. In battles, he should choose a position in the second row and prevent opponents from getting into close combat.
Commander Marta Karda.
Marta Karda has the ability to use heavy weapons. She will have access to weapons such as the ATGM, automatic cannon, heavy machine gun, and other types of weapons. Her very low resupply cost allows her to frequently participate in battles. She also has strong skills such as Accuracy and Teamwork. All of her existing priorities make her a worthy competitor among other Commanders.
However, don’t get too excited about her potential. Commander Marta Karda will only reveal her full potential in the mid-game. The fact is that she doesn’t have very good stats at the start, and she still needs to unlock key skills to confidently deal damage to enemies. Nevertheless, she is worth the effort and is always welcome on the battlefield as part of a team.
Commander Harry Bucanwright.
Harry Bucanwright is the only Technician at the start of the game with the “Handyman” ability. A very useful ability that allows you to fix complex malfunctions. Another useful ability, “Secondary Parts,” reduces the cost of vehicle hulls by 30%. This allows for economical use of vehicles under strict supply limits. He also has a high critical hit chance and average stats.
Given the current priorities, Commander Harry Bucanwright has some drawbacks that make leveling him up impractical. His defense is weak, his action points are low, he frequently misses targets, and he has a bonus to his upgrades. His only drawback is the ability to take combat vehicles with him at a discount. While he’s worth considering, he’s not the most useful commander on the battlefield. If he were chosen, it would be as a temporary replacement for another commander.
Commander Achilleas Kainu.
Achilleas Kainu is a tanker with very good stats that allow him to be successful on the battlefield. It’s worth noting that he’s one of the few available commanders you’d hesitate to recruit. His supply costs are very high and his skills are unappealing. Because of this, Commander Achilleas Kainu joins the team closer to the mid-game as an additional character.
Commander Edwin Pike.
Edwin Pike is a support-class commander, as his primary role on the battlefield is to provide additional bonuses to allied units. He also boasts good stats early on and a moderate supply cost. He’s a very interesting commander if deployed correctly and used effectively in combat. He’s also good at reconnaissance, where his primary position is the second row among allies.
At the beginning of the game, it’s recommended to assemble a squad of 9 infantrymen; this will help increase survivability and combat effectiveness. In the later stages of the game, thanks to his skills, you can only add up to 3 soldiers to your squad. His primary role will be to support allies. It’s important to equip him with smoke grenades and an ATGM.
Commander Jane Darby.
Jane Darby is considered one of the most powerful infantry commanders. He has good stats early on and quite useful skills. On the battlefield, he can be a versatile commander, engaging enemies in both the front and back lines. Much depends on the player and the skills he has developed. He can develop the skills “Incredible Shot,” “Chameleon,” “Scout,” and “Ambush.” This is sufficient for playing in the back line and holding back the enemy. The remaining skills can be developed to suit your tastes.
The preferred weapon in the early stages of the game is the BR3A3 Kr-BaRMOD2 Carbine or BR3A3 Kr-BaRMOD1. These weapons should replace the starting weapon to maximize the hero’s usefulness. However, the best weapon for Commander Dabri later on is the BR6A1 HaMER. These weapons can easily counter opponents such as the Rebel Army and pirates. Other weapon options with an anti-tank grenade launcher are also worth considering, but much will depend on his development.
Commander Renu Reva.
Renu Reva is a tank commander and has considerable potential. He’s considered one of the best tankers in Menace. It’s important to properly level him up and use the right weapons. He has good skills and a very reasonable supply cost. He can be trained to suit almost any playstyle. We suggest training the following skills: “Motion Shooting,” “Berserker,” “Ace Pilot,” and “Tank Destroyer.”
Commander Tekko’Beo Phosa.
Tekko’Beo Phosa is a versatile commander who can fire on the move and has good survivability. Thanks to his moderate supply cost and good skills, he’s often seen on the battlefield. Arming him with good weapons will maximize his potential. Even a small squad can defeat opponents. It’s recommended to train the “Zig-Zag” and “Concentrated Fire” skills.
The best commanders at the start of the game in Menace.
We suggest considering our list of the best commanders to take at the very beginning of the game. Much depends on the player’s preferred tactics, and you can assemble your team at your own discretion. These commanders will allow you to conduct successful battles and accelerate further development. You can choose from the listed options and go throw pancakes at your enemies.
Commander Jane Darby.
Definitely the best commander at the start of the game. It’s hard to imagine successful combat without him. It’s important to level him up correctly and you can become a good warrior on the battlefield. Jane Darby has some of the best stealth and view range skills. This allows her to be the first to spot the enemy and effectively inflict damage. You can transmit enemy detection data, and your combat vehicles can launch attacks.
At the same time, Commander Jane Darby herself has good stats. She also has an additional 25% damage when attacking enemies without being spotted. Depending on his leveling, he can be used in the front lines, as an assault unit if he’s upgraded to “commando,” or as a successful scout. It all depends on the player’s preferences.
Commander Charles Lim.
We recommend taking him early in the game to simplify the initial progression of the game. Charles Lim is an excellent scout, capable of spotting enemies and quickly eliminating easy targets. This can be achieved by upgrading the “Hit and Run,” “Scout,” “Zig-Zag,” and “Focus Shot” skills. This will create a squad capable of spotting enemies and leading the fight independently.
Commander Edwin Pike.
Commander Edwin Pike is a bit of a controversial character when it comes to being the best commander early in the game. However, his role on the battlefield is quite useful. Edwin Pike serves as a team support and can be very useful if used correctly on the battlefield. It’s important to consider his abilities, stick to the second row, and frequently use cover.
Commander Tekko’Beo Phosa.
Tekko’Beo Phosa earned a spot among the commanders available at the start of the game. He was included in the platoon due to his moderate supply cost and versatility. His key feature is his good survivability on the battlefield, even with a small squad. This makes him a strong competitor among other commanders and a favorite in the early stages of the game.
Commander Harry Bucanwright.
Harry Bucanwright isn’t the best commander among the technicians, but he has a well-equipped combat vehicle. He can be picked up a little later in the initial missions. However, at the start of the game, the combat vehicle can be used as a trench. He won’t be of great use on the battlefield, but he can be picked if you really want to get a vehicle early on.
