Indiana Jones’s Sanctuary of the Guardians: An Adventure in Egypt, Giza

Hello, dear friends! We continue our journey through the legendary Indiana Jones game. Last time, we unraveled the story in the underground city and met a nun. The nun became our constant companion. Our hero managed to board the airship and safely travel to Egypt, where new adventures and puzzles await.

In this article, we’ll tell you how to complete the “Sanctuary of the Guardians” quest. We’ll also show you how to solve the puzzle in the Golden Mask room and the mirror puzzles in Giza.

After exiting the airship, we need to explore the area, and don’t forget to use the camera to earn points. Follow the markers on the map and find the nun’s friend, Noval, in the camp. She’ll tell you the story of the idol and the myths surrounding the area. Noval can also give you a pass to work on the excavation site. After talking with Noval and feeding her pet, we can begin the chapter in Egypt.

The location of the “Sanctuary of the Guardians” is marked on the map. Guards are stationed in some areas, and they will attack Indiana Jones almost immediately. You can try sneaking around unnoticed or first defeating a guard in a fistfight near the camp. He can drop a weapon, which will make it a little easier to clear the way to the “Sanctuary of the Guardians.” It’s important to note that in the first fight, the guards attack with fists. If Indiana Jones uses a weapon, the guards will also begin shooting.

However, upon approaching the “Sanctuary of the Guardians,” you may need to use a weapon, as there will be many enemies. Clear the area of ​​guards in the “Sanctuary of the Guardians” and enter. Genna will be inside the sanctuary. You need to search the room and pick up the new “Digger’s Outfit.” With these clothes, we’ll need to make our way to a special excavation site.

  • Additional objective: Find the “Golden Medallion.”

The location of the “Golden Medallion” is marked on the map; it’s a military camp. There are about 50 fighters in the camp, and you’ll have to defeat them all. Infiltrating the camp undetected is practically impossible. Even if you do, returning will be very difficult. Therefore, we search for nearby enemies, gradually lure them out of the camp, and defeat them in fistfights. If you have any firearms and ammunition left, you can start with them; it will be faster and easier.

The “Golden Medallion” itself is located in the center of the camp, in the commander’s cabin. Enter the camp and collect all the most valuable items. You can find food supplies, money, medicine, and much more. Once the “Golden Medallion” is found, you need to return to the “Guardians’ Sanctuary” to open the door. Since the area is cleared, returning will be safe.

  • Additional objective: “Inspect the Sanctuary.”

Opening the door to the shrine is simple: approach the door, place the Golden Medallion you found, and the door opens. Enter the “Sanctuary of the Guardians” with Gina and encounter our first problem: it’s dark inside. The darkness pauses progress and a new quest, “Find a Light Source,” appears.

  • Additional quest: “Find a Light Source.”

Finding a light source isn’t a problem. We need to head to the market and talk to the local vendors. You can buy a lighter and books from a vendor named Asma. I recommend not buying the books yet, but we really need the lighter. Take the lighter for 75 coins and return to Gina in the “Sanctuary of the Guardians.”

Enter the shrine and light the liquid in the bowl next to the door. On the left side, near the door, there’s a lever; we need to interact with it. This lever doesn’t open the door, but it does trigger a trap, like Indiana Jones’s. Indiana Jones saves Gina by pulling her to his side. Below, we can see a pit with spikes.

To continue, we need to find an opening in the pit; the passage is on the left. We need to grab the rope at the top and carefully lower ourselves down. After that, we can safely climb into the hole in the wall. Crawl through the hole in the wall and enter another room. Use the lighter to explore the room in dark places. There’s a chain in the room that opens the door and closes the trap. Interact with this chain and proceed further.

In the new room, we actively use the camera. Gradually move on and find a large room with puzzles and the Golden Mask. The room contains several special mirrors that direct the light source. In the center of the room is the Golden Mask, encased in stone.

Our task is to direct the light from the mirror stands in the correct direction. There are four mirror stands in the room. Two are near the entrance to the room and two more are near the pyramid.

Action One.

First, we need to rotate the stands near the stele, behind the mask. The light from the stands near the stele should be directed at the mirror stands near the entrance to the room. This will allow us to redirect the light to the desired locations.

Action Two.

We begin to interact with the mirror stands near the entrance. The light is already directed, and we can redirect it elsewhere. We direct the light from the mirrors near the entrance to the lower part of the staircase, into special circles. After completing these steps, you can collect the “Golden Mask.”

  • Additional objective: “Find a way out of the Guardians’ Sanctuary.”

After collecting the mask, a cutscene begins where Gina tries it on. Indiana Jones will have to take a photo of it. Gina will sit on a stone throne, and a trap will be activated. The platform will lower down, taking our heroes to where the scorpions are. You need to stay close to Gina, as she will repel the scorpions with her torch. This will gradually lead us to a new room with puzzles.

  • Additional objective: “Solve the Mirror Puzzle” in the game Indiana Jones.

In the hall, there is a single stand with a mirror containing a light source. You need to direct the light source into the bowls located in different places.

First Action:

First, you need to direct the light source into the left bowl above the door; the door should open. There’s a broken stand in the room where a mirror should be. This stand will need to be repaired. With Gina’s help, you can obtain a mirror, which we place on the broken stand in the room. Direct the light source toward the center of the room.

Second step.

Return to the central room and redirect the light into the bowl Gina is holding. Gina will redirect the beam of light to the correct location. After this, the door will open, allowing us to continue.

  • Additional objective: “Go through the Collapsed Hall.”

Go through the open door. Follow the sign and enter a room with a stand containing a mirror and light. We need to help Gina climb up so she can control the mirror and light. At first, it’s not entirely clear what to do; there’s a door on the left side with scorpions near it. To continue, you need to cross to the side with the scorpions and climb to the top of the wall. Indiana Jones will reach the middle; you need to carefully examine the room. There’s a spot above where you can grab a rope and reach Gina.

  • Additional objective: “Leave the Sanctuary.”

Leaving the Sanctuary isn’t difficult, as there are no unnecessary traps and you just need to follow the sign. Along the way, you can find the “Protector’s Stele” relic; pick it up and continue on. Head outside, and a cutscene will begin with Gina examining the relics they’ve found.
