Isonzo Veteran Units historical moments of the Italian war

Isonzo is a historical World War I shooter featuring a company on the Italian front. The Isonzo shooter is made with elements of tactical actions in real time. The developers from the M2H studio, BlackMill Games made the shooter in such a way, where the success of the fighting depends on the coherence of the team from different specialties.

Isonzo Veteran Units are additional content for the appearance of the characters. The Seasoned Fighters Pack contains the battle-worn uniforms of one of the most famous units of the Italian Front, from the Italian Sardinian Brigade and the Bersaglieri to the Austro-Hungarian Honvéd. The set includes five mustache options, four face pieces, and one face option for each side.

Uniform Sassari Brigade, in the game Isonzo and a bit of history.

Developers do not go far from history and are completely repelled by historical data. The Sassari Brigade uniform is an Italian uniform that includes the famous “Sassari” (Sardinian) brigade. The Sassari Brigade saw action in some of the fiercest battles of the war. At the same time, the Italian officer and climber receive the distinctive capes of the Italian Royal Army.

During the general mobilization of Italy in preparation for entry into the First World War on March 1, 1915, the Italian army assembled the Sassari infantry brigade on the island of Sardinia. These were the 151st Infantry Regiment at Sinnai and the 152nd Infantry Regiment at Tempio Pausania.

Unlike other Italian infantry brigades, the Sassari recruited only Sardinians, hence their nickname. However, the highest ranking officers were from the Italian mainland.

The brigade fought its first action during the First Battle of the Isonzo and distinguished itself at the Second Battle of the Isonzo. In May 1916, they helped Italy stop the Austro-Hungarian Spring Offensive. Later that year, in June, they captured Monte Fior, Monte Castelgomberto, Monte Spiel, Monte Miela and Monte Zebio. For these actions, both regiments of the brigade were awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor.

  • Hadrian’s helmet.

Initially, the Adrian helmet appeared in the French army in 1915, it was the first modern steel helmet, and later became the main helmet of many armies in the 1930s. The helmet was designed for French troops fighting in the trenches. Prior to Hadrian’s helmet, soldiers wore a kepi cap, which left the soldiers open to injury as it offered no protection.

  • Feldkappe cap and badges on caps, in the game Isonzo.

The feldkappé cap and cap badges were the obligatory uniform of the Royal Hungarian Honvéd. Since the creation of a dual monarchy was announced, due to secondary security duties.

The feldkappe cap was worn by the Austro-Hungarian army until 1907 and continued to be worn during the First World War. The Austrian version with the brass inscription “FJI” (Franz Joseph I) is better known. Only in the Isonzo game does it read “IFJ” (I. Ferenc Józef) in Hungarian.

As for the badges that can be seen on caps. Known as “Kappenabzeichen” in German and “Sapkajelvények” in Hungarian, these badges were made to represent several things such as; portrait of the emperor, military leaders, famous armies and regiments, battles and campaigns, military hospitals and the Red Cross.

History Honved – Defenders of the Motherland, in the game Isonzo.

The Royal Hungarian Honvéd, commonly known as the Honvéd (literally meaning “Defender of the Motherland”), was one of the 4 armed forces of Austria-Hungary in 1867-1918. The term first appeared during the revolutions of 1848 and was given to volunteers who went into battle for several weeks, or “until victory”.

Like the Austrian Landwehr, the Hungarian Honvéd began in 1867 as a militia with secondary security duties. During the negotiations to create a dual monarchy, the Hungarians demanded that the imperial army be divided between Vienna and Budapest.

It was therefore necessary to have a separate Hungarian army command and war ministry, and the Hungarian army had to wear its own uniform, march under its own banners, and respond only in Magyarul as the language of command.

During World War I, the 8 Honvéd infantry divisions and the Honvéd cavalry division went to war in August 1914 with the General Army, fighting on all fronts. Like the General Army, Honvédseg expanded during the war. However, the General Army, Landwehr and Honvedseg did not mix in the special divisions and brigades formed at the front, even during crises at the front. Also not mixed were the “official special” infantry divisions that had served briefly on the Italian front.
