Wasteland 3 has a variety of talents that increase stats in combat. However, not all talents are equally useful. There are not very needed talents, despite their attractiveness. Since in fact the battles are varied and the enemy fighters have their advantages.
When choosing talents, you need to build on what class your character is. In the game, you can train a melee fighter as a tank, an archer as a support, or an attack aircraft and a sniper. These classes are used in different ways on the battlefield and have their own advantages over enemy fighters.
One character will not be able to pump all the available talents, since there will not be enough pumping points and talent points. Talent points are given to characters every 2 levels, after reaching 4 characters level, one talent point.
This article will focus on additional bonuses that are more related to the character of the support class. Talents play more the role of additional ones, increasing the possibilities in the game. For example, if you increase the armor indicators, then the characters will be able to hold out on the battlefield longer.
Well, you shouldn’t neglect additional skills either. If you do not have at least one character with additional non-combat skills in your team, the game may not come out very easy. Support can sometimes be crucial, as you can restore your ammo stocks or be more persistent.Talent types in Wasteland 3:
Talents for the “Toaster Repair” section.
This section contains talents regarding repairs and bonuses to the toasters themselves. There are not many such places on the map. And if there is a desire to collect and accept a rare kind of companion into the team, then it makes sense to pump up to level 7.
-
Talent “Expert for Toasters”.
Unlocks at level 3. Research gives a bonus to getting additional items after repairing the toaster. The reward itself is not valuable enough to spend a talent point on it. We do not recommend pumping.
-
Talent “Breakfast Thief”.
You can open it at level 5. After repairing the toaster, you can get the “Toast” food, which gives you the opportunity to restore health by + 100% and get an additional action point for 90 moves.
Whether it is worth pumping is up to you. But such food can be bought in the forest, only the name will be different. For example, dumplings, pork and so on. As a result, it turns out that spending money on buying food is more profitable than spending a precious talent point.
-
Talent “Heating element”.
Research is available at level 7. The character gains the opportunity to inflict additional damage with fire + 25%. Works only if there is a weapon such as a flamethrower.
If you do not use a flamethrower, then we do not recommend pumping.
-
Talent “With a crust”.
Researched at level 10. It makes it possible to impose the effect of burning on an enemy fighter if another enemy was killed.
High priority on the battlefield will not be noticeable, so we do not recommend pumping.
Talents for the Weapon Mods section.
We do not recommend spending research points. But, if you still wanted to, then no higher than level 5.
-
Talent “A little cunning and hoarding.”
Unlocks at level 2. Gives a bonus when disassembling weapons, you can find any modifications.
An interesting point is that the bonus does not work every time. And the modifications found are of little value. As a result, pumping and spending a talent point is pointless.
-
Talent “To score a charge tighter.”
You can research at level 5. After studying, the bonus will apply to the entire group. + 25% more ammo can be found while searching for objects.
It is important to note that the talent will act in the event that at least one cartridge is in the place of the search. If there are no cartridges in the box at all, then the bonus will not work either.
Considering the value of cartridges on the battlefield, it makes sense to pump, it won’t be superfluous. In addition, you can save extra money on this, since you do not have to spend it in the store when buying.
-
Talent “Demolition Expert”.
You can open it at level 7. The character can receive bonuses from dismantling objects and find + 30% more scrap metal.
Not a good way to waste talent points. At first glance, it seems beneficial, but in reality it is not. Since it will not be possible to sell scrap metal more profitably than the whole thing.
Talents for the “Wonderful Science” section.
If there is a character equipped with energy weapons, then it makes sense to pump.
-
Talent “Enhanced charge”.
It can be opened at level 3 and gives an ability that can be activated for 1 action point. The ability allows the character to inflict additional damage on opponents with effects. Such as cold, fire or electricity + 5%.
We do not recommend pumping this talent. Since the increase is too small and there is a risk of losing valuable weapons. It’s not a good thing to be left on the battlefield without a gun.
-
Talent “Microwave Research”.
Research is available at level 6 and it makes sense to level up. Since it gives a good increase in damage by 0.5 units for each unit of armor. A useful talent will be for a character with energy weapons and good armor.
-
Talent “Conducting Rays”.
You can open the opportunity for pumping at level 9. The talent gives bonuses to energy weapons. The character can get a chance to kill the enemy with electricity. And hit nearby opponents with an energy effect that will operate for 2 turns.
A useful talent, as you can defeat a very strong opponent with one shot. In fact, we have not tried how much this chance really works. But you can assume that you will have to reboot frequently.
Talents for the “Sneak” section.
-
The talent “Second attempt”.
A character can get research at level 4, which will give him the opportunity to detect enemies earlier by + 1 second.
It is advisable to pump it if at the beginning of the game the character has chosen the “Circus” feature. Where there were penalties to the speed of detection. But if the feature was not chosen, then pumping does not make much sense.
-
Talent “Lucky”.
Research is available at level 7. Gives a 50% chance that traps and alarms may not work.
It makes no sense to pump over, since some traps are already detected. If only specially send the character to the discovered traps. And then hope that the trap doesn’t work. We do not recommend spending a talent point on leveling.
-
Talent “Extinguish the light”.
Becomes available at level 10. And it gives the character a bonus to attacks + 200% if the shooter was not found. Works only with stealthy attacks.
Good for a sniper, as attacks have a long distance. And the very tactics of playing a sniper meets the requirements of talent. The sniper is usually at a great distance and fires from a distance. It won’t be a big problem to inflict hidden attacks.
And for a melee character, it can be suitable if you explore a new location. In this case, the enemy fighters will be busy with their own affairs. Getting close behind you can do good one-time damage. In some cases, in melee combat, you can whitewash one enemy at a time.
The coolest thing will probably be to pump this talent to the grenade launcher. Since if the opponents are next to each other, then you can defeat several enemy fighters with one shot.
Talents for the “Modify Armor” section.
This is the only talent level section with only one talent to level up. But, it gives a good advantage on the battlefield. Suitable for a melee character or shooter.
-
Talent “Caring with love and tenderness.”
Available for swinging at level 10. If at least one character is pumped, then all the remaining characters receive + 5 units to armor. Necessarily need to pump, as the survivability of the entire squad increases.
Leveling up characters wearing heavy armor may not be useful. Since armor can already protect, and reduce damage. But for characters with light armor, the talent is useful, even an increase of + 5 units can play a significant role. Whereas for heavy armor will give even more priority on the battlefield.
